We did it! We moved in! Thanks to everyone over the last few weeks to help us move in to our new space! February has been intentionally quiet as we get settled and prepare for the Spring. March calendar is seriously insane so watch for it next week. There is so much going on, I'm absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm our new location has brought out in folks. Our February OPEN MIC was our first event held in our new space which brought out 70 yes 7-0 people of all age and talented backgrounds, from storytelling to poetry, accordions, ukuleles and more. We had a sign painting day as well and we had almost 30 people show up to help out! Thanks everyone, you're truly awesome. Can't wait to share more creative projects with you soon.

We are super excited to announce that we are moving down the street to 757 King street! We have out grown our current location. In our new space we will be able to offer more programming and host larger events. We are movingFebruary 1st. Please keep watch for an upcoming email that will announce our move date. We could use all helping hands as possible to make it a smooth move.
Keep up to date on our Facebook Page as well!
We had a great time at the Growing Green Festival this year! The weather held off for the most part and sun was out for most of the day. We had our liquid watercolours with us and folks who came by enjoyed creating with them! So much that we ran out of paper! This time last year we were working hard to start our Art Happening Bridgewater space - happy to mark our one year anniversary during the Afterglow Art Festival
Saturday June 20th was a beautiful sunny day to have an Open House! We ate local strawberries and made art. We had some wonderful folks new to the community stop in and even two ladies who travelled from Halifax to see what we are all about! We will be planning a Grand Opening in the future so please watch for that! Check out some photos from our Open House! Thank you to Cheryl and Candice for the great shots!
Volunteer and Art Happening Board member was interviewed this weekend on local radio station CKBW by DJ Kyle Alexander. Thanks again for welcoming us! If you missed it Sunday morning you can take a listen here:
During November we had two large visits, people who travelled to visit us! We feel special! Mid month we had a group of 21 young adults ages 20 - 40 who are apart of 21 INC. These folks are apart of the non-profit organization that is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurial leaders ages 40 and under across Atlantic Canada. Their vision is an Atlantic Canada with entrepreneurial leadership required to be prosperous, sustainable and resilient. Wow, what a mouth full! We loved hosting them and learn from each other, even for a short time.
The second visit we had was from a Community Development Class from Acadia University. They wanted to see a sustainable community in action so a road trip to Bridgewater it was!
They started off and ended their afternoon at the Art Happening Space learning about us, hearing more about Bridgewater and even had a guest visit from the Mayor (see photo above) who had lots of great things to say and share with the class about community resiliency. They did a scavenger-hunt activity around town where they got to meet people from local government, local business people, community garden volunteers, and visits to many locations around the town.
We welcome any groups, individuals to come and use Art Happening as a meeting and gathering space ! Contact us!
We have been working so hard these last few months to get the space open and ready! It's freshly painted, got lots of supplies, furniture, it's looking good! Please stop by during one of our Open Houses to hear more about the space and how you can utilize it or get involved!
We have had a lot of fun recently connecting with the community and sharing the vision of the Art Happening - community art space - in Bridgewater. We are officially renting 430 King street and will be paying rent starting on September 15. We are spending the next few weeks getting the space ready, painting, collecting furniture, cleaning, finding art supplies and more!
We had a lovely time at the Growing Green Sustainability Festival - chatted with people about the space, did some chalk drawing, make some art. A volunteer of our, Chris, did some doodle readings, it was super fun and exciting to talk about the initiative!

We have been greatly inspired by the Art Hive movement based in Montreal. They are doing amazing work in the city and have really spread this idea to inspire people across the county. In June 2014 they held a symposium in Montreal where people from all across the country visited, shared and learn from each other about creative community spaces. Nova Scotia had the most representation at this gathering then any other province!
